Nana Asaase and friends present
‘Writer Erections’
This Saturday evening will be an
exciting evening for lovers of poetry in Accra. At the College of Surgeons and
Physicians, Nana Asaase and friends will be on stage for the second edition of
‘Mental Pictures’ poetry recitals.
The maiden edition of the
programme was launched in July last year as an annual night of literary
readings and performances. It highlighted one of Ghana’s budding poets,
Philip Boakye Dua Oyinka, known in literary circles as Nana Asaase.
This year’s programme dubbed ‘Writer erection’ features Nana Asaase as
well as other literary artistes who will fill the night with fantastic recitals
and performances; all aimed at encouraging and celebrating young Ghanaian
writers and performers who have distinguished themselves on the Ghanaian
literary scene.
The event
would also witness the launch of ‘Asaase Inscriptions’ Literary Coaching Project, dubbed, POETRY FOR DEVELOPMENT, an initiative
aimed at channeling the literary arts for developmental causes, and also to
help young writers and school children, especially in rural Ghana to develop
reading habits and develop talents in the creative arts.
This evening
promises to be filled with pure Pan-African energy; informative, educative, and
entertaining with pieces selected across traditional perspectives and modern
themes.
